01 — Our story

Built one service call at a time.

This isn't a chain. It isn't a franchise. It started with a single van, a phone, and a stubborn belief that fixing things right the first time would build a business better than aggressive sales tactics ever could.

Fifteen years later, we're still not the biggest garage door company in London — and we like it that way.

Garage Door London was founded in 2009 as Garage Door Solutions Inc. — a one-truck operation born from a simple observation. The big national chains were quoting customers full door replacements when a $200 spring repair would have done the job. Sub-contracted technicians were charging service-call fees just to walk in the door. Voicemail boxes were filling up at 7 PM and not getting returned until Monday.

So we built the opposite of that. One company. One phone number. Real humans answering it 24/7. Every technician you'll meet is a direct employee, not a sub-contractor. Every quote is fixed before any work begins. Every repair gets a lifetime parts warranty — even after you sell the home.

Today, we're the same family-owned crew we started as. Bigger truck inventory, more technicians, more service area — but the same philosophy. The phone still gets answered by a person. The national chains push replacement to maximize ticket size. We push the opposite. About 75% of doors we're called to "replace" turn out to be repairable — usually for a fifth of the cost. We'll always quote the repair first. If replacement is genuinely the right call, we'll explain why in plain language.

Fixed pricing, no surprises.

A $95 service-call fee covers diagnosis and a fixed written quote — and the $95 is credited toward the final invoice if you proceed with the repair. The number we quote is the number you pay. No surcharges added at the end. No "while we're here, we noticed..." tactics. If we find something mid-job that changes scope, we stop and ask before doing anything that changes the price.

Real humans, 24/7.

Ray started as a residential installer in 2003, moved into commercial high-cycle door work, and opened Garage Door Solutions Inc. in London in 2009. He still personally handles complex spring jobs, commercial installations, and any service call where a customer specifically asks for him.
